Imagine Bamboo...

Imagine Bamboo is an ambitious public art, engagement and creative enquiry project, now in its 5th year. Originally produced by Imagineer Productions and led by independent artistic director, Orit Azaz, it is now evolving through a network of partnerships and collaborations. 

Artists, designers, engineers and communities from across the UK, and internationally, have been coming together to explore the potential of bamboo – widely held to be one of the most important sustainable building materials for the planet. Recent Highlights 

So far in 2025, Imagine Bamboo creative director collaborated with Nofit State Circus, Circus Zambia and Zukani Action Zambia on the Artist as Activist project in Zambia. The project invited local artists, communities and partners in one of the poorest neighbourhoods in Lusaka to explore what they can create with Zambian grown bamboo and recycled plastic waste. 

Last year, we collaborated with NoFit State Circus to create BAMBOO, a spectacular outdoor circus theatre show that brilliantly demonstrates the incredible strength and flexibility of bamboo through circus acrobatics. A new iteration is touring UK and Europe from May to September 2025.

Imagine Bamboo partners are leading on exciting bamboo creative and engagement projects across the UK and Brilliant Bamboo will be hosting the 5th UK Bamboo Summit 2025 on 10th October 2025 in Stoke-on-Trent.

Meanwhile, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens is celebrating its incredible bamboo collection with a Summer of Bamboo programme 21st July to 6th September 2025.
